Power Generation News – Late August 2022

The deployment of Rolls-Royce SMR’s small modular reactors (SMRs) has been boosted by a new agreement that will enable use of the design in the Netherlands.

Rolls-Royce SMR has signed an exclusive agreement with Dutch development company ULC-Energy to work together to deploy SMR power stations in the country.

Rolls-Royce SMR and ULC-Energy believe nuclear energy can accelerate the transition to a clean, affordable and reliable energy system in the Netherlands.  According to Rolls-Royce SMR, its design applies proven nuclear technology to provide affordable, secure, low carbon electricity and heat.

A Torridge village will be at the centre of an ambitious green energy project following planning approval to build a Scottish factory.

In October 2021, DevonLive spoke to residents in Alverdiscott about early plans to pass a 3800km sea cable through the village as part of the Xlinks wind energy project. The project will see 7GW of solar and 3.5GW of wind energy constructed in Morocco, Africa, before being connected to the UK through underwater sea cables.
