Department For International Trade (DIT) Offers UK Companies Grant Funding For ASEAN Manufacturing Shows

The Engineering Industries Association is pleased to advise that funding has been approved for UK SME companies exhibiting at METALEX, total metal working solutions, including Machine Tools, Sheet Metal Working, Wire, Tube and Welding in Bangkok from 22 – 25 November 2017 and Manufacturing Indonesia, Machine Tools, Tools & Hardware, Industrial Automation & Logistics Asia in Jakarta from 6 – 9 December 2017.

Companies exhibiting at these events will receive £2,500 towards their eligible costs. Therefore a company exhibiting a 9 square metre stand with including space, construction, furniture and GB graphic will cost at METALEX £2,297 and at Manufacturing Indonesia for £812 inclusive.

ASEAN exhibitions attract far more exhibitors and visitors than UK shows and they come from the whole region. Metalex has 2,073 exhibiting companies with 3,300 exhibiting brands and 90,516 visitors, whilst Manufacturing Indonesia has 2,073 exhibiting companies from 31 countries/regions and 31,580 visitors.

UK SME companies should take the opportunity to get behind the Governments initiative to export outside the European Union.

Now is the ideal time for UK companies to export to the world’s leading emerging markets and fastest growing economies of ASEAN Economic Community which allows fee movement of goods, services and skilled labour between member states of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia and Brunei.

With over 600 million people, ASEAN’s potential market is larger than the European Union or North America. ASEAN is one of the most open economic regions in the world, with total merchandise exports of over $1.2 trillion – nearly 54% of total ASEAN GDP and 7% of global exports. ASEAN’s physical infrastructure is critical to the ASEAN Economic Community’s goal of establishing a single market and production base. Cross-border roads, power lines, railways and maritime development will help propel the community forward. This in turn will boost existing and new value chains or production networks.
