Jet2 has struck an agreement with Airbus to purchase 36 new Airbus A321 neo aircraft, and has also agreed flexibility to extend this order up to 60 aircraft. The firm ordered aircraft deliveries stretch over five years until 2028, and at current prices represent a value of about $4.9bn/£3.6bn, with a total transaction value for up to 60 aircraft of roughly $8.1bn/£5.9bn. Airbus has picked up the pace for aircraft deliveries in March. The European aircraft manufacturer delivered a total of 72 aircraft to a range of airlines from Aer Lingus to Wizz Air UK. Most airlines only took one plane this month, with only nine customers taking three or more aircraft. Work on the first UltraFan module is underway at the firm’s DemoWorks facility in Derby. The demonstrator engine, which has a fan diameter of 3.56m, will be completed by the end of the year. Boeing has renewed its longstanding relationship with the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with an agreement that will continue two decades of innovation and collaboration for another five years. The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, has announced that it has signed a lease with property investment firm Canmoor for a unit at Westway Park in Renfrew, part of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland. The facility will be primarily used for the Group’s £11.8 million research and development programme with the world’s largest aerospace company, Boeing.
